Hey all,
Good news. I've finally gotten ahold of video from my meet last weekend. It is located on the Pictures/Video page. I will have some pictures of the t-shirts early next week. Here's how my week went:
Monday
My body felt cashed. Sluggish. This week marks the beginning of our Winter Break program, a wonderful collection of extremely tough workouts that lasts 6 weeks. Today was my upper body workout, comprised mainly of a bench workout (5 sets of 6 at 320lbs). I wasn't able to get all the reps which was expected. I managed to get 6, 6, 6, 5, and 3. I'll start listing the main lifts and what I did to give you an idea of the improvement I'll make this break.
Bench Press: 6,6,6,5,3 x 320lbs
Tuesday
Still worn out. I'm sure it was a mix of my training unloading a bit and knowing that it is back to the grindstone. I had a lot to do on Tuesday so I needed to get the lower body workout in before my throwing session. I had a power clean workout (two separate workouts of singles and sets of 5) and some dumbell squats. It was grueling. The cleans were done from the floor which is not my most favorite lift. My floor clean max is probably about 150k x 1 (compared to my hang clean max of 167.5k x 2). After that I had a very poor throwing session. I cut it off early due to my sluggishness but managed to work on some of my technical issues from Saturday.
Floor Clean: 8 x 1 x 130-135kg, 5 x 5 x 105kg
Wednesday
Core workout. Fun.
Thursday
Had another throwing session that went very well. My body feels much better after getting in some volume in the weight room. I had some big stands (49' 17# and 51' 16#) and some big halfs (60' 16#). These are pretty big for this time of the year. I was working on keeping my head back which gave me a lot of torque in the middle of the ring. The fulls were just ok. There were only three of us throwing and Jud was in Vegas at a Thrower's Convention so the atmosphere was weak. But my body feels good again.
Friday
Another lower body workout today. Heavy Clean/Snatch Pulls and Back Squats. The workout involved switching between sets of Clean Pulls and Snatch Pulls which made the Clean Pulls feel very heavy (but the Snatch Pulls were very light). Then a squat workout similar to the clean workout I mentioned before (singles then sets of five). It has been a while since I've done a normal squat so they felt odd. However, thanks to the squats with bands, the weight does not feel heavy at all.
Back Squats: 5 x 1 x 405-465lbs, 3 x 5 x 370lbs
Now i have a day of rest to get some Christmas shopping in and then back to the grindstone on Sunday night. Enjoy the video.
